Sony — A Surfer Board Design by Vietnam’s Waves

Sony is a surfer from Mui Ne who traveled across Vietnam in search of waves and founded “Sóng” — a surfboard brand made in Vietnam.

From Mui Ne to the Rest of Vietnam

Sony is a surfer from Mui Ne, a place where the wind, sand, and waves shape both boards and people.
From his very first sessions in small, playful waves, Sony developed a deep connection with the ocean — not just as a playground, but as a lifelong teacher.

Surfing, for him, was never only about riding waves.
It was about understanding different coastlines, reading water, and respecting local energy wherever he traveled.

Chasing Waves Across Vietnam

Driven by pure passion, Sony began traveling across Vietnam’s entire coastline — from the central beaches to lesser-known breaks — always searching for new and beautiful surf spots.

Each destination taught him something different:

  • Changing swell directions
  • Reef and sandbank dynamics
  • The rhythm of local surf communities

Through these journeys, Sony didn’t just collect waves — he collected stories, friendships, and experience that would later shape his vision.

Founder of “Sóng” — Surfboards Made in Vietnam

Sony is also the founder of “Sóng”, a surfboard brand proudly made in Vietnam.

“Sóng” was born from a simple idea:
to create boards that truly fit Vietnamese waves and conditions, shaped by local knowledge rather than imported standards.

Every board reflects:

  • Hands-on shaping experience
  • Feedback from real surf sessions
  • A belief that Vietnam deserves its own surf identity

For Sony, shaping boards is an extension of surfing itself — another way to stay connected to the ocean, even on flat days.

Surfing as a Way of Life

Today, Sony continues to surf, travel, shape, and share his passion with others.
His journey represents a new generation of Vietnamese surfers — rooted locally, yet open to the world.

Through waves, boards, and stories, Sony proves that surf culture in Vietnam is not borrowed — it is being built.
